Dinalupihan, Bataan Etymology

"Dinalupijan" came from the festival rites of the Aetas commemorating the deity "Indianalo", the goddess of hunting and bountiful harvest. "Indianalo" was paired with the Sanskrit word "jann", meaning paradise.

The parish of St. John the Baptist of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Balanga was established in 1865. It is located in the Municipality of Dinalupihan, Province of Bataan. The Parish Fiesta is celebrated every 24th day of June.

But whether it is “Di-nalupigan” or Dinalupihan, history is witness to how the residents fought like tigers during the Spanish revolution of 1896 and during the Japanese invasion. Records show that Dinalupihan was raised into the parish in 1856 and placed under the patronage of San Juan Bautista.
