The Church of the Immaculate Conception also known as โVirac Cathedralโ, situated at the heart of the capital town of Virac, remains a lasting proof to the deep faith of Viracnons and is an architectural heritage that is constantly being adored by locals and visitors alike.
Today, the Virac Cathedral has been revamped to have a similar look and feel to the dome of St. Peterโs Basilica in Rome.

Virac, the capital of Catanduanes, has a history rooted in pre-Spanish times with the settlement of tribal chieftain Lumibao near Vidak spring, later visited by Spanish conquistadors in 1573, and officially recognized as a unit of governance in 1755.
